These days meditation and mindfulness works for mild anxiety, especially when I keep up a regular daily practice (not always). In difficult situations which I can’t avoid I’ll do some breathing exercises too. I’ve tried some herbal anti-stress tablets, but they tend to make me drowsy so I don’t use them much. I’ve found that fitness exercise like jogging has helped a bit too.

But I still avoid situations which cause me strong anxiety when I can, such as public speaking. I’m retired now so don’t have to do things like interviews, presentations, chairing meetings etc which were always a big struggle and my avoidance affected my career a lot.
