University of Cambridge Review Anxiety Studies

The University of Cambridge has published a global review of 48 studies that has found that more than 60 million people in the EU are affected by anxiety disorders, with women and young people affected the most.

Whilst they estimate that four out of every hundred people are affected by anxiety, the review said much more research was required, particularly to ascertain the risk to other communities.

Research on anxiety is woefully inadequate, so Anxiety UK welcome any research that is going to (a) identify those at greatest risk of developing anxiety disorders, (b) will lead to the development of new treatments and (c) increase our overall understanding in general of such conditions. It is for these reasons that we launched the Katharine and Harold Fisher Research Fund.

Anxiety UK are available for comment, queries and interviews regarding this review and its findings. We have already responded to this review via a number of outlets, including:

The Telegraph
Training Matters Magazine
