Anxiety UK runs a number of specialist helplines, run by people with personal experience or expert knowledge of a particular anxiety disorder. These services are only open to Anxiety UK members and can provide tailored advice and support around a specific condition.
To access these helplines you must first become a member with Anxiety UK. You can then find more details in the member’s area of the website or call 08444 775774 for access to the service.
Nutrition and Anxiety Helpline
In conjunction with MMU’s MetMunch team, the helpline provides tips on how you can eat healthily to help manage the symptoms of anxiety plus information on how your diet can influence your mental health. The helpline runs Thursday evenings 8-9PM, October through December.
Dental Anxiety Email Support
Run by qualified and General Dental Council registered dentists, the email support service gives support and guidance to those with anxiety around visiting the dentist. Please allow 48 hours for a response.
Psychiatric Pharmacy Helpline Service
This helpline, run in conjunction with the psychiatric pharmacy team at Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust, is available if you have any questions relating to psychiatric medication. Available on Wednesday afternoons, the service is not intended to replace your relationship with your GP and, at times, the adviser may need to come back to you with an answer at a later date/time, particularly if you are asking a complex question.
Public Speaking Anxiety Helpline
Available weekdays mornings and evenings, and run by a professional consultant, this helpline provides advice for managing anxiety around public speaking.
