Share giving
What is share giving?
Share giving is a scheme whereby if you give shares to a charity, you are entitled to claim income and capital gains tax relief on the share gift.
So, if you are a higher rate tax payer and you give £1,000 worth of shares to charity, you will pay £400 less in income tax that year. Tax relief is available for certain shares and securities. For more information see the Inland Revenue's leaflet IR 178.
How to donate your shares
What do I need to do to make a gift of shares to ANXIETY UK? There are organisations to help guide you through the process. You can make a gift of shares and name ANXIETY UK as the charity you wish to benefit from the proceeds.
