Above all, membership offers a strong network for anyone experiencing problems as a result of anxiety.

Therapy services

We have a large team of qualified and accredited therapists practising throughout the UK who are able to offer private therapy on a 1:1 basis, either face to face, or over the phone (currently only CBT and counselling are available over the phone) at significantly reduced rates. Many of our therapists are also able to offer home visits for those members who have difficulty travelling. Therapies offered are as follows

  • Cognitive behavourial Therapy (CBT)
  • Clinical Hypnotherapy
  • Counselling
  • Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP)

Specialist helpline services

We have a number of specialist helpline services available including a:

  • Psychiatrist helpline - run by a psychiatrist who has a number of years experience of working with anxiety sufferers. ication (inclherbal/co
  • Psychiatric pharmacy helpline - run by a senior psychiatric pharmacist which offers advice and information on all aspects of psychiatric medication.
  • Psychology information line - run by a psychologist which offers advice and information on psychological therapies - for example, guidance on which therapy is best for a particular problem.
  • Tranquilliser information line - this service offers advice/information around tranquillisers/benzodiazepines

Anxiety disorder phone-in services

We run a variety of phone-in services at various times during the week/weekend, co-ordinated by ANXIETY UK members with specific personal experience of a particular anxiety condition. These services facilitate the exchange of information and experience and enable members to share coping mechanisms.

At present the phone-in services offer support around the following:

  • Panic attacks and panic disorder
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Public speaking
  • Emetophobia

ANXIETY UK Publications discounts

As a member of ANXIETY UK, you are entitled to receive substantial discounts off our fact sheets, audio tapes and booklets with titles such as the popular 'Understanding Anxiety' and the 'Carers guide to anxiety'.

ANXIETY UK magazine: 'Anxious Times' and contact list

We produce a quarterly magazine which is packed with a lively mix of articles written by professionals and sufferers of anxiety disorders on all aspects of anxiety, including latest research, complementary medicine, special offers and much more.

The magazine also contains a contact list which enables members to contact others suffering with similar problems for mutual support. We are confident that irrespective of where you live in the UK, we will have a member not very far away.

Personal letters and email service

We are able to answer personal letter/emails and offer a range of information and advice exclusively to our members.

Self help groups

ANXIETY UK runs a number of self-help groups and has a wide range of affiliated support groups across the country. We can also support members to start a support group should they wish to do this.

Self-esteem and confidence service

Our self-esteem and confidence service comprises self-confidence, one-day workshops which are held across the UK, and an email support service (run by an NLP therapist specialising in assertiveness techniques). A course on 'Presentation Skills & public speaking' is also available at a discounted rate to ANXIETY UK members.

ANXIETY UK legal service

We have a legal question and answer service run by a volunteer who is also a barrister. This service offers legal advice and information on issues relating to anxiety disorders, for example, discrimination issues, benefits and welfare rights issues.

Discounts on external services

ANXIETY UK has arranged substantial discounts for its members on a number of related, external services (currently a driving phobia service - "Anxious Driver" and animal/snake/spider phobia clinics and 1:1 sessions provided by "Jays Animal Encounters").
