Hi all, I too have joined Anxiety UK to help my daughter, I have read that CBT may help her. She experiences fearful and suspicious thoughts and refuses to go out without a chaperone …what do people think ? and how do I access CBT through this organisation ? thanks .

    Hello,

I need some help to overcome a phobia of rats. I usually avoid situations where i might come across a rat, but my daughter has started attending a nursery next to woodland. There are rats living in the woodland. I am inspired to seek help after a rat ran across directly in front of me tonight and i had such a panic about it. I do not want to take my daughter out of nursery just because of my fear of the rats, so it is time to do something about it.

Please can you contact me with my options for treating my phobia, the sooner the better as i have to go to nursery everyday.

    Thank you,

    Sarah

      Hi Sarah

It’s always good to speak to your GPs about the anxiety and phobia. Anxiety including phobia is often the result of irrational thoughts/beliefs/fears we have in our minds. These thoughts trigger our bodies to react and change our behaviours. I’m sure the rat you saw the other night was more frighten than you were. I would recommend you to speak to a therapist and cognitive behavioural therapy wpuld help you alot in managing the phobia. Please give us a call on our helpine to speak to one of our helpline volunteers.

I suffer from anxiety, set off by multiple reasons. My main problem is that I do not feel safe to go out alone. I need someone with me and at times have to cancel appointments. I have a hard time trying to get therapy because i dont have any one to accompany me.
I also get vertigo that goes off with no warning , and that is scary and produces MORE anixiety, and i get ocular migraines that cause me to have temporary blindness , and there is no warning on those either. If I am out in public when it happens, It is scary enough when there is someoen with me but the thought of it happening with out someone with me, keeps me at home unless there is somone to attend with me.I get anxiety from knowing i need to go somewhere, and then get upset and all sorts of symptoms , (shaking, heart palpiations, sweating, confustion and the urge to hide) because i KNOW I am not going to be able to go and then worry how the consequences might harm me. I also have a heart arrythmia that an anxiety attack will set off. I am 47 years old, I have no family and only 2 friends and one of those I cant talk to completely open. I feel trapped into a living a life when someone has time for me to live. I have been going to a councilor that I DO not like and it feels like a waste of time. I cant see a way out. On top of the anxiety, I suffer depression, which makes me feel like giving up most of the time, not caring if anybody helps me over come this or not.

    Hello everyone,

Has anyone tried NLP therapy to overcome their phobias? I have had a quote for about £50 per hour for therapy. I am happy to pay for therapy if it is likley to work, but i am a little bit sceptical and it would be great hear from other people who have tried it.

    Thank you.

      Hi Sarah

NLP would definately help with your anxiety as long as you practice the techniques the therapist teaches you. Managing anxiety and phobia is all about stay positive and having faith in yourself and the therapist. By the way, was the £50 per session quote from us? We also offer NLP and CBT to our members at reduced rates.
