Clinical Hypnotherapy

Although clinical hypnotherapy is not a NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) approved therapy, there is plenty of anecdotal evidence available to suggest that this type of therapy is very beneficial to people experiencing anxiety. Indeed over the years that Anxiety UK has been running its therapy services, it has consistently had positive feedback from members about hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy aims to provide people with results fairly quickly. Hypnotherapists will use a variety of techniques such as visualisation, which is aimed at producing often quite deep levels of relaxation. Visualisation involves asking you to imagine a feared situation or object while you are in a deep state of relaxation. You are then asked to use positive visualisation to manage how you are feeling and to imagine the experience in a positive way.

At the time of publication, Anxiety UK”s clinical hypnotherapists were all approved/registered with the following hypnotherapy governing bodies: General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR), British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH),the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

In fact, I now find train journeys quite boring! There were other times when I had panic attacks, especially if I had to speak at a business meeting or in public. Now I don’t feel bothered by that anymore and feel that I can move forward and not avoid the situations that made me feel uncomfortable. I now understand why I have suffered with this problem, and now feel so much more confident and motivated.
