Anxiety UK joins Remember a Charity

January 30th, 2014

Charitable legacies are the foundation for many good causes in the UK and are vital in continuing their work. 74% of the UK population support charities and when asked, 35% of them say they would happily leave a gift in their will once family and friends have been provided for. In reality, however, only 7% actually get around to doing it.

Legacies, no matter how small, can make a huge impact to the work that we do at Anxiety UK.

For example:

  • A gift of £250 would allow us to provide support to 25 people on our helpline, providing advice and a listening ear to those who are struggling with anxiety.
  • A gift of £750 would allow us to take on 30 new therapists across the UK, providing quick access to support with therapists who understand how to treat anxiety.
  • A gift of £1,000 would allow us to answer more than 285 requests for email support, a confidential service where people can email us for support with their anxiety.
  • A gift of £5,000 would allow us to provide 40 online live chat surgeries, providing members with access to eminent anxiety experts on topics such as how to support an anxious child, anxiety medication and stress in the workplace.

It’s easy to see how a legacy can make a huge difference to the lives of those living with anxiety.

To raise the profile of the importance of leaving a legacy, we recently joined the Remember a Charity scheme, where more than 140 charities work together to encourage more people to consider leaving a charitable gift in their will. The site provides a wealth of useful information including why leaving a gift to charity is important, guidance on writing a will, how to find a solicitor in your area and an ever growing list of charities that would be honoured to receive your gift – including Anxiety UK!
